For an outdoor adventure we head inland to the Khao Sok National Park, where you can get the full jungle experience – complete with elephants, lazy rivers and swimming bamboo lodgings on the Cheowlan Lake. This area is said to be one of the oldest rainforests in the world, and it’s certainly one of the most scenic, with its magnificent primary jungle, emerald green water and dramatic limestone formations.

Once you stay here, you forget the traffic, noise and worries. The only things that might awake you at night are the sounds of wild animals and the noise of the unspoiled jungle habitat.

On the outward bound we pass already some of the most beautiful landscapes of Thailand with spectacular mountain panorama and after about 2 hours we reach the city of Takun. We use a quick stop for last minute shopping and a toilet run.

At the pier, 30 minutes away inside the National Park, we board a traditional longtail boat with an experienced ranger who will drive us around for the entire trip.

So let’s go! Pure virgin forest! We drive up to Khlong Saeng, the far northern end of the 40 km long lake. Soon we leave the other excursion boats behind us. Dreamlike solitude in nature, where the spectacular limestone formations and thick jungle capture our imagination. We will feel a bit like at the end of the world. Naturalists see it like this: “One of the last paradises on earth!” That’s for a reason, as you will experience on the tour by yourself.

For nature lovers there is probably nothing more impressive than the experience of a million years old, untouched jungle with fascinating wildlife close up.

And to spend the night here just tops it up! This already is an unforgettable and unique experience. We will sleep in floating bamboo huts, equipped with mattress, mosquito net and electricity. No luxury, but pure nature!

Slow and peaceful we will explore the heart of the jungle with the longtail boat. All safaris are done by boat, as there is a great chance to see wildlife; especially in the early morning and the sunset a lot of animals will come down to feed and drink.

The exploration of the jungle by trekking takes place on the second day.

Alternatively you can spend the last day after the early morning safari and breakfast in siesta mode. Or jump into the emerald-green water, directly from the ‘terrace’ with a breathtaking view in the middle of the untouched beauty of nature.

No matter what you are up to. . . peace and relaxation are guaranteed anyway! But we don’t want to reveal too much. . . like at Christmas the best time to unpack the presents is under the Christmas tree. . . Let nature surprise you with its outstanding gifts!
